Siri Hustvedt and The High School Reunion Diet

“In a culture of obesity, poisonous fast food, myriad food phobias, and one weight loss diet more bizarre than the next, Dr. David Colbert and Terry Reed have written a lucid, lively book that offers its readers an antidote: sanity. Well researched, medically sound, and entirely free of hysteria, High School Reunion Diet is much more than a means to an end. It is a lively, smart primer on how to eat, not just for thirty days, but forever.” – Siri Hustvedt

Siri Hustvedt who went to St. Olaf College with Dr. Colbert is now a well known author.  Her last two books included The Shaking Woman or A History of My Nerves and The Sorrows of an American: A Novel.

On top of those, she has new book coming out soon and is preparing for a book tour in Europe (looking radiant as always!).

Good Restaurants, Good for you!

There are a few restaurants in New York City that make eating great foods easy. However, it can be a bit tricky to find these gems among the fried food joints throughout Manhattan.

Here are just a few to give you a starting point. If you’re not in the NYC area but have suggestions for your town, we’d love to hear them so we can share your favorites with out readers, as well.

1. City Bakery – One of Dr. Colbert’s favorites, City Bakery provides delectable seasional dishes. The tomatoes are always fresh and the salad is always green, not to mention packed with nature’s best vitamins!

2. Souen – This is a great little place where natural goodness and organic ingredients are commonplace. Check out the bright green kale, hearty brown grains and tofu – all unrefined and unprocessed which means you get all the benefits of naturally grown foods without the harmful chemicals and human tinkering.

3. Union Square Farmer’s Market- Ok, so it may not be a restaurant but it’s a great place to grab a snack or all the ingredients to your favorite meal. Plus, you might catch Dr. Colbert picking up a handful of organic veggies during the week.
