Dr. Colbert is a Guest on NBC’s Martha Stewart
Dr. David Colbert of High School Reunion Diet fame appeared on the Martha Stewart Show this morning, March 3. The charming Ms. Stewart started the show off with a trip down memory lane with her guests, reminiscing about their high school days. Martha reported that she’d been an athlete and a “goody-two-shoes.” David noted that his favorite part about high school was leaving it. Later in the show, the Doctor shared his Shopping List, recommending we eat certain foods on a daily basis to stay young and healthy, inside and out. Included were:

MARTHA: The Martha Stewart Show
Greek Yogurt for its anti-inflammatory and anti-aging effect, and its ability to fight infection
Blueberries for the antioxidants and phytonutrients (read: pretty skin)
Kale, which he gave an A for its Vitamin A. (Makes your eyes see better and sparkle more)
Spinach, as the most nutritious plant on planet earth
Red and Orange Bell Peppers, because great color means great nutrients
Almonds, for the kind of fat that helps keep you thin
Olive Oil, the world’s most famous fat, to be used in cooking every day

Dr. Colbert’s Trip to Haiti
Shortly after the earthquake, Dr. Colbert (an internist as well as a dermatologist, with a fellowship in wound healing and ER experience) visited Haiti to help treat the countless victims of the disaster. His accounting of his trip , and his assessment of what medical follow-up would be needed in the future, was published in The New York Post on February 7. The article drew attention from many prominent people anxious to continue helping the Haitians recover from the devastation, and led to the establishment of Dr. Colbert’s not-for-profit organization, NYDG Foundation. A benefit hosted by Dr. Colbert and several celebrities will be held in April. Like Aziz, Colbert (New York Dermatology Group) forbids prepackaged foods, including soft drinks (read: also sugar-free energy drinks and flavored bottled water). He concentrates on low-glycemic-index foods such as oatmeal, beans, cruciferous vegetables, unflavored yogurt, lean meats, and lots of fish. His explanation of how modern foods have sabotaged our health is fascinating. Did you know that even fresh, unprocessed fruits and vegetables are less nutritious now than they were 50 years ago? Exceptionally informative and easy to understand, this title will appeal to anyone who is looking for a quick fix that won’t undermine his or her health, as so many speedy weight-loss plans do.
